The problem statement

According to one of UAE’s furniture, devices, and items disposal company (Take My Junk UAE), they collect around 250 million kilograms of items per year - imagine all of other companies combined! Given that and that the UAE also has a 2030 Sustainability plan, how can we make a digital solution that reduces unnecessary disposal of items?

Strategy
During the initial conversations, we dive in into the business model, target audience, benchmarks, and the delivery plan of this solution. Based on what was discussed, we decided that the best approach would be a mobile app.

UX & Prototyping
After interviewing 15 people, we were now confident to start designing the wireframes. By creating a lo-fi prototype, we tested with additional people to make sure we had the best UX outcome for this product.

UI & Branding
The idea was to get our clients vision and translate it to an approachable and human voice and tone, colors and illustrations to deliver clear brand guidelines that were also applied to the final prototype.

Development
Time to define and refine the delivery process of this beautiful app! Our team then focused into developing, testing and putting into production the V1 product that went live in less than a month!

Marketing
We had to work fast to make sure everything was ready for the app to be announcement at COP28, an international event focused on sustainability and climate-change, the core of Baddel’s motive.

After care
By building a roadmap, we guarantee that Baddel has continuous improvements. We always choose the technology that best fit our client needs, making sure we can handover the code whenever the client wants.

Main features

Every single flow and screen was validated with usability testing and later on refined based on the findings and the brand guidelines.

Product upload
The app allows users to upload their item in detail, with pictures, descriptions, category as well as their location
Browse through products
Baddel offers multiple categories in which users can browse through to find items that interests them
Donating or swapping
The users can select whether they want to donate the products they have uploaded or if they want to exchange them with another user’s item.
In-app chat
Once an item is picked, the app allows the items owners to discuss more about the product and set a pick up day and time.
